Assault of two inmates at Kent Institution
Two inmates at Kent Institution, a maximum-security federal institution, were victims of assaults on June 28 and 29, 2026, in separate incidents.
On June 28, 2026, an inmate was assaulted at Kent Institution. The individual was evaluated by staff and transported to an outside hospital to receive treatment for their injuries.
The following day, June 29, 2026, a second inmate was assaulted at the same institution. This individual also received immediate medical attention from staff and was transported to an outside hospital for further treatment.
The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) is currently investigating both incidents. The police have been notified, and the institution is working to determine the full circumstances surrounding these assaults.
Ensuring the safety and security of inmates, staff, and the public remains a top priority for the CSC. These investigations aim to prevent similar occurrences and maintain order within federal correctional facilities.
