BC Road Signs Practice

Roughly half of the ICBC knowledge test is about recognizing BC road signs. We break sign practice into the four categories ICBC tests:

Regulatory signs

Stop, yield, speed limit, no entry, turn restrictions and HOV lane signs you must obey by law.

Warning signs

Yellow diamond signs that warn of curves, intersections, pedestrian crossings and changing road conditions ahead.

Construction signs

Orange work-zone signs covering lane closures, flag persons, reduced speeds and detours.

Guide & information signs

Green and blue signs for highway exits, destinations, services, parking and tourist information.

Rules of the Road

The other half of the ICBC test focuses on BC's Motor Vehicle Act and safe driving practice. These are the topics you'll see most often:

Right of way

Uncontrolled intersections, four-way stops, roundabouts, merging traffic and emergency vehicles.

Intersections

Turning left and right safely, protected vs unprotected greens, and yielding to pedestrians.

Speed limits

Default BC speed limits in cities, on highways, in playground zones and how to adjust for conditions.

Parking rules

Where you can and can't park, distance from fire hydrants and crosswalks, and parallel parking technique.

School & playground zones

Reduced 30 km/h limits, when they apply and the penalties for speeding in them.

Highway driving

Lane discipline, safe following distances, passing rules and dealing with large trucks.

ICBC Mock Exam

Our ICBC mock exam mirrors the real knowledge test: 50 randomly selected multiple-choice questions, a single timed sitting and an 80% pass threshold. You'll get a full breakdown by category at the end so you know exactly which topics to review before your appointment at the driver licensing office.
